Banbridge CC enjoy success at the ABC Borough 2026 Senior Sports Awards

Banbridge Cycling Club members enjoyed a successful evening at the Armagh, Banbridge & Craigavon 2026 Senior Sports Awards. Shortlisted in five categories; Volunteer, Service to Sport, Club of the Year, Coach of the Year and Senior Team of the Year, those who attended on behalf of the club were already in a celebratory mood.

One of the first presentations of the evening recognized the club’s volunteers who go beyond the club and their sport. Lydia Beattie got Banbridge CC off to a winning start, picking up the Volunteer Award in recognition of her active role leading the club’s event timekeeping team.

A long-standing and dedicated member of the Banbridge CC timing team, Lydia has been a quiet but essential presence behind countless club, inter-club and open events over many years. Her attention to detail and unwavering standards ensure that each rider’s performance is recorded accurately and fairly, in compliance with standardized national and international regulations. Beyond her operational excellence, Lydia has demonstrated a strong commitment to the future sustainability of the sport – proactively recruiting and training new timekeepers to strengthen what has historically been a small group of volunteers.

in the Service for Sport category, solid club Neil Teggart he was called to the stage by the host of the ceremony Denise Watson. Neil has been at the heart of Banbridge CC for over four decades. His journey began in the mid-1980s as a talented youth rider and continued in the late 1990s, when he represented Northern Ireland at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur and rode for the Irish national team in the Rás Tailteann.

An ongoing injury unfortunately curtailed what was shaping up to be an exceptional competitive career. Instead of moving away, however, Neil committed himself to the sport as a volunteer – both locally and nationally – and became one of the most respected figures in Irish cycling.

in the Coach of the Year category, where the shortlisted nominees included Kevin Broderick (Banbridge & Rathfriland Karate Club) and Amy Wethers (Craigavon Aztecs Volleyball Club), Banbridge CC’s Matthew Teggart was announced as the 2026 winner. After a great year for the club’s road races in 2025, Matthew led the preparations for Banbridge CC’s debut in the international men’s cycling stage race, the Rás Tailteann. He combined the coaching duties with the racing and got the selection for the final team. Banbridge CC achieved multiple top 10 stage placings, won the Irish County lead rider on two stages, and were crowned overall Irish County/Provincial Teams Award winners – beating Kanturk Cork by over 18 minutes and the Ulster Cycling team by 22 minutes.

Along with the Head, Matthew was head coach for Banbridge CC winners at a range of other road races, including the Tour of Ards, the C1 and C3/Junior races, and the Wallace Caldwell Memorial—where the club placed four riders in the top eight.

The evening concluded in style as Banbridge CC received the President’s Awardwhich recognizes the club’s achievements during 2025 – high level competitive success, growing participation, historic performances on the national and international stage, and ongoing commitment to event promotion and community development.

In addition to the club’s success in the Rás, Banbridge CC enjoyed the highest level of participation in the open road race seen in decades. Just two months into the 2025 season, the club had already recorded double-figure podium finishes in six different drivers, showing real depth within the squad. Banbridge riders were an almost constant presence in the race’s top ten during the early season and, by early May, the club had produced five individual race winners: John Buller, Adam Matthews, Riley Smith, Mark Kendall and John Ervine. Internationally, Don Travers once again represented Banbridge CC with distinction, competing in his age category at the Gralloch UCI Gravel World Series event in Scotland and qualifying for the UCI Gravel World Championships in Limburg, Holland. The club also continued to excel in the time trial (TT), achieving several places on the Ulster League podium and championship success with several medalists.

Collecting the award on behalf of the club were Mark Downey and James Curry, who both competed as part of the winning ‘25 Banbridge CC Rás team. Both began their cycling careers as youth riders with Banbridge CC and developed into successful international competitors, representing Ireland at World Championship and Olympic level in various disciplines. Speaking to event host Denise Watson, Mark paid tribute to the support of the club and its volunteers, and the satisfaction of once again competing in home colors after retiring from professional international career.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
