Having come through the ranks at Paris Saint-Germain before stints with Bordeaux and AC Milan, Adli currently plies his trade in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Shabab FC. In recent months, he was adamant about his ambition to wear the French jersey, despite continued interest from the Algerian Football Federation.
Some of his previous comments, which were sometimes seen as clumsy, sparked confusion and criticism in Algeria. Adli himself now admits to a communication misstep.
