Michał Rydz finished his work as the president of Widzew Łódź and said goodbye to the club in a lengthy entry. He emphasized that he was leaving with gratitude, but also with a sense of unfinished dreams. The club’s owner, Robert Dobrzycki, has temporarily taken over the reins at Piłsudskiego, and will perform his duties until a new president is elected.

Michał Rydz leaves Widzew Łódź

An important organizational change took place in Widzew Łódź. Michał Rydz ceased to be the president of the management board, and his place was temporarily taken by Robert Dobrzycki. The club owner will manage Widzew until a new person is appointed to this position.

Rydz was associated with the club for over five years. In his farewell post, he recalled that he started working in a completely different reality, when Widzew was a first-league newcomer and played in empty stands during the pandemic. As he noted, today he leaves the club with much more organizational development.

Widzew after the reconstruction period

The former president emphasized that the current Widzew is a club with owner Robert Dobrzycki, a modern training center being built and structures that are to distinguish it from the Ekstraklasa. He also pointed to commercial, organizational and sports development.

In his entry, he drew attention to the first team, which, according to him, created high standards of work for the staff, organizational and medical departments. An important element will also be the development of training facilities, which in the coming months should reach the level set by other areas of the club.

Academy, youth and foundation

Rydz also emphasized youth development. He recalled the teams competing in the third league and the Central Junior League, as well as the first Polish youth representatives appointed from the Widzew Academy.

He devoted a separate place to social activities. In his opinion, the club has become a model of responsibility and work for the environment, which resulted in the establishment of the Widzewa Łódź Foundation. He also emphasized that the symbolic period of the club’s reactivation had ended, and the foundations built allowed us to look into the future with optimism.

In his farewell post, Rydz thanked many people and communities. He mentioned the owner Robert Dobrzycki, previous owners, the Association for the Reactivation of Sports Traditions and members of the supervisory board.

He devoted a lot of space to the fans who create the atmosphere of the stadium at Piłsudskiego Street. He thanked the Widzew Łódź Fans Association, OSK “Tylko Widzew”, representatives of housing estates and fan clubs, and fans who follow the team all over Poland.

The former president also appreciated the partners and sponsors who had been building the financial foundations of the club over the years. He addressed separate words to players, coaches, training staffs and employees, emphasizing their loyalty, professionalism and everyday work often performed outside the spotlight.

Rydz stays in the stands

At the end of the farewell, Rydz referred to his family, whom he thanked for their support during the demanding period of work at the club. He admitted that he was leaving with a sense of gratitude, but also with the burden of unfulfilled dreams.

However, he assured that he is not disappearing from Widzew’s life. He announced his presence in the stands, pointing to sector C6 as the place where he could be met. He also emphasized his faith in the club’s future and concluded the post by saying that Widzew remains indestructible.

Robert Dobrzycki took over the duties

The change in the position of president comes at an important time for the Łódź club. Widzew has had a difficult season, but at the same time it is in the phase of further organizational reconstruction. The temporary takeover of duties by the owner is intended to ensure continuity of management until a new president is elected.

The coming weeks will show who will permanently take over at Piłsudskiego. After Rydz’s departure, the club is closing an important stage, but the same challenges remain: sports development, financial stability and meeting the fans’ high expectations.
