Legia Warszawa has a problem with the most expensive transfer in its history. Mileta Rajović was supposed to give the team strength in attack and regular goals, but the Dane’s first season at Łazienkowska brought more disappointments than anything concrete. Now the club is ready to sell him, although the asking price may make it very difficult to find a buyer.

Rajović came to Legia for three million euros and from the very beginning it was a high-risk transfer. The capital club paid a record amount for him, expecting the striker to quickly become one of the offensive leaders. However, this did not happen.
The Dane finished the season with ten goals in 43 matches, but he scored only six goals in the Ekstraklasa. With almost 2,800 minutes spent on the pitch, it is difficult to consider this result as satisfactory. Rajović had a lot of time to join the team and adapt to the league’s requirements, but there was no breakthrough.
The price for Rajovic may scare away clubs
Legia put the striker up for sale and set the starting price at EUR 2.8 million. This is a very high amount, considering his last season and the fact that he did not live up to expectations after his transfer to Warsaw.
Negotiations would probably be possible, but the starting point shows that the club wants to recover a significant part of the money invested in the player. The problem is that potential buyers may look at Rajovic through the prism not only of his physical conditions and previous CV, but also of his poor effectiveness in Legia.
A long contract complicates the situation
Rajović’s contract runs until June 30, 2029. This gives Legia control over the player, but at the same time it may be a problem if a buyer cannot be found. The striker does not have much motivation to leave quickly, and according to the signals so far, he is not pushing for a transfer.
If he stays with Łazienkowska, he will face competition for a place in attack. Łukasz Zjawiński and Rafał Adamski are in the squad, and the future of Antonio Čolak and Jean-Pierre Nsame remains unclear. Legia must therefore sort out the offensive situation before it starts building the team for the new season.
A record transfer has become a problem
Rajović was supposed to be the answer to Legia’s problems with effectiveness, but for now he has become a symbol of a failed investment. With a height of 196 centimeters, he gives the team a specific profile, but physicality alone was not enough to regularly determine the results.
The coming weeks will show whether Legia will find a club willing to pay a significant amount for the Dane. If not, the Warsaw team will have to decide whether to try to rebuild the striker or lower their financial expectations and close the issue faster.
