Club Member of the Year 2025 – Voting now open


Voting for the 2025 Banbridge CC Club Person of the year is now open, club members can vote here.

The list of nominees below were chosen at the recent October club meeting. Once again we have a very worthy list of nominees, all of whom are to be congratulated and thanked for their efforts and service to Banbridge CC over the past 12 months.

A brief tutorial on each nominee is listed below to aid in voting. The winner will be announced at the Annual Social and Awards Night on Saturday 8th.th November at Banbridge Hockey Club where they will be presented with the Towell Trophy. Voting is open to all Banbridge CC Members.

Lydia Beattie

As Head Timekeeper of Banbridge CC, Lydia has been the quiet force behind countless club, interclub, and open race events over many years – ensuring that every rider’s effort is timed with precision and professionalism. Week after week, Lydia shows up early, stays long after the riders have left and works with her fellow race officials to ensure that incorrect and correct results are incorrect and correct. she is reliable and respected by members and visitors alike who appreciate the warmth and encouragement Lydia brings to Banbridge CC events.

Paul Hannigan

Paul is a regular at all Banbridge CC events and events around Ireland where Banbridge CC are participating to capture the action and photos off the bike. Paul’s photographs are regularly used for media and publications including local newspapers, websites, and social media, all of which help promote Banbridge CC and our events.

Paul is also a member of the Club Committee and the Open Racing Committee and is always ready to step in and assist as needed.

Ruth McKee

This year Ruth again took the lead with the organization and promotion of the MTB XC National Series race at Dunmore, the only MTB XC National Series event to be promoted in Ulster in both 2024 and 25. The event once again received universal praise from the riders and other attendees.

Ruth was also one of the main coaches and helpers at the Summer Cycling Skills Camp and is a regular volunteer at various club events.

Martin Duffy

Martin took up the mantle of Team Manager for Banbridge CC’s race team at the 2025 Rás Tailteann, an important occasion for the club on its debut in Ireland’s premier international stage race. Martin not only supported and led the wider team throughout the 5 days of racing, but was instrumental in building the team management and logistics sponsors.

A time trial enthusiast, Martin also regularly authors and publishes the popular ‘Merchants of Speed’ race reports.
