Stal Rzeszów lost an important player at the decisive stage of the season. The club has already dispelled all doubts about Marek Kozioł’s health and informed that the experienced goalkeeper will have to undergo shoulder surgery. This means that the 37-year-old will no longer appear on the pitch in the ongoing competition.

This is bad news for the team from Rzeszów, because Kozioł has been one of the most important figures in the team for a long time. This season, he regularly defended access to Stal’s goal, and his position in the squad was strong. In 21 matches he recorded four clean sheets and led the team on the pitch six times as captain. Such an absence at the end of the competition must have an impact on the functioning of the entire defense.

The goalkeeper’s health problems began on April 1, when he suffered a shoulder injury during training. Initially, the situation was assessed and analyzed whether there was a chance for conservative treatment. Ultimately, after two weeks of consultation and observation, it was decided that surgery was the best solution.

Such a scenario automatically closed the topic of Kozioł’s possible return this season. The break is expected to last approximately three to four months. This means that an experienced goalkeeper will be able to focus exclusively on rehabilitation and preparation for the next games. The pace of return to full load will depend on the healing process and subsequent stages of treatment.

This is a serious problem for Stal also because Kozioł gave the team not only sports quality, but also the peace of mind resulting from experience.
