Nobody in Górnik Zabrze wanted to see such a picture at the end of the season. Erik Janža left the field before the break of the match against Korona Kielce, and the fans immediately became anxious. The team captain suffered an injury at a key moment of the competition, when every detail can decide the standings and the fate of the fight for trophies.

Saturday’s match with Korona Kielce ended with a valuable 1-0 victory for Górnik, but alongside the joy of receiving all the points, there were also concerns about the health of one of the most important players. Erik Janža did not make it to the end of the first half without any problems and did not appear on the pitch after the change of sides. All because of a shoulder injury he suffered in the 29th minute.

For the inhabitants of Zabrze, such a signal must have sounded alarming. The team is entering the decisive part of the season, and there are still six games of great importance ahead of it. Five of them will take place in the Ekstraklasa, where Górnik is currently in second place and is only three points behind Lech Poznań. In addition, there is the Polish Cup final against Raków Częstochowa.

The coach explained that Janža wanted to return to the pitch after the break, but the staff decided it was better to make the change immediately. Thanks to this, the team did not risk another forced reshuffle during the second half and could set up for a new variant from the very beginning.

The coach also made it clear that he was counting on a less dangerous scenario. According to his assessment, the injury does not have to be very serious, but specific answers will only be provided by tests scheduled for Monday. Only then will it be known whether Górnik’s captain will be ready to play in the coming days.

It is no accident that Janža’s health condition arouses so much emotion. This is the moment when Górnik cannot afford to weaken. The fight for the highest goals in the league continues, and the point differences among the leaders remain small.
