Wrocław may become the arena of a unique football day. The Polish Football Association is analyzing the possibility of playing two matches at one stadium within a few hours. The final of the Ekstraklasa play-offs and the match of the Polish national team against Ukraine are at stake. This solution arouses interest, but also raises many organizational questions.

Conflict of dates in Wrocław

The problem is due to the calendar. The Polish national team is scheduled to play a friendly match against Ukraine on May 31 at the stadium in Wrocław. However, the final of the play-offs for promotion to the Ekstraklasa may take place on the same day.

The situation becomes more complicated because Śląsk Wrocław may still be in the play-offs. The team led by Ante Šimundža is currently second in the table and is four points ahead of Wieczysta Kraków.

What if Śląsk drops to third place?

If Śląsk maintains second place, the problem will disappear. In such a situation, the team will be directly promoted and will not take part in the play-offs.

On the other hand, May is considered the best period for maintaining the surface. Weather conditions favor grass regeneration, which gives hope that the stadium could meet such a challenge. Nevertheless, this would be a unique situation even on a European scale.
