Friday’s racing in the PGE Ekstraliga will start differently than initially expected. The match between Bayersystem GKM Grudziądz and Krono-Plast Włókniarz Częstochowa was postponed by an hour and a half because the weather again forced the organizers to react. Fans must remember the new start time.

GKM Grudziądz – Włókniarz Częstochowa later than planned

Two matches of the 6th round of the PGE Ekstraliga are scheduled for Friday, May 15. The first of them was to be a competition between Bayersystem GKM Grudziądz and Krono-Plast Włókniarz Częstochowa. Originally, the competition was supposed to start at 6:00 p.m., but this date turned out to be impossible to maintain. The reason was rainfall, which complicated the preparation of the surface.

Finally, Speedway Ekstraliga announced that the match in Grudziądz would start at 7:30 p.m. This means a delay of one and a half hours. This variant had already been taken into account earlier, because the organizers assumed the possibility of speeding up or delaying the competition depending on weather conditions and the condition of the track.

The tarp helped, but didn’t solve the whole problem

In accordance with the decision of the league authorities, tarpaulins were placed on the tracks in Grudziądz and Gorzów. This is a standard action in the event of a risk of precipitation, because it allows you to limit the amount of water reaching directly onto the surface. In speedway, even a small difference in the track condition can have a huge impact, so the organizers cannot afford to take risks.

However, the tarpaulin itself does not guarantee that the competition will start on time. After removing it, you need to check the surface, prepare it for driving and make sure that competitors will be able to compete in safe conditions. That’s why additional time was needed in Grudziądz. The decision to postpone the match is intended to increase the chances of playing the match without any nervous rush.

This is an important match for both teams

The clash between GKM and Włókniarz is of great sporting importance, although the situation of both teams is completely different. The Grudziądz team started the season well and want to confirm that their place in the top is not a coincidence. A match in front of the home crowd against a rival who is having problems is an opportunity to add more points, but also a trap if the hosts consider the task completed too early.

There, the track was also secured with a tarpaulin, but for now there was no need to postpone the start of the competition.

For fans, this means an intense evening with PGE Ekstraliga. First, the match in Grudziądz is to start at 7:30 p.m., and an hour later the competition in Gorzów. However, the most important thing will be whether the weather will allow both matches to be held calmly and avoid further changes.

New hour, same goal

The change in the time of the match in Grudziądz shows how important a role the weather plays in speedway. Even if the track is properly secured, the organizers must respond promptly, because the safety of competitors and the quality of the show are more important than strictly sticking to the original plan.

At the moment, the most important information is clear: Bayersystem GKM Grudziądz and Krono-Plast Włókniarz Częstochowa are scheduled to start the match at 7:30 p.m. If the conditions do not deteriorate in the decisive hours, fans will see the first Friday racing in the 6th round of the PGE Ekstraliga.
