The Lions of Teranga suffered a major setback during their 3-2 defeat to Norway on Monday, in the second round of Group I at the 2026 World Cup.
Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy was forced off the pitch in the second half after sustaining an injury.
The incident that led to Norway’s third goal proved disastrous for the Senegalese shot-stopper. While attempting to block a shot from Erling Haaland, Mendy landed heavily on his left knee, resulting in a worrying injury.
Despite this blow and conceding three goals, the Al-Ahli keeper still produced several decisive saves during the match, notably denying three clear-cut chances inside his area.

According to exclusive reports from Senegalese outlet WIWSPORT, initial medical tests have revealed ligament damage in the left knee of the Lions of Teranga’s last line of defense.
