Several key incidents have raised serious concerns and deep questions about the consistency and fairness of decisions that directly affected the outcome of the match. A number of football experts and specialist analysts, both locally and internationally, have highlighted controversial and decisive refereeing incidents that occurred during the game. This underlines the importance of upholding the highest standards of integrity, fairness, and transparency in officiating, especially in a competition of the scale and significance of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Egyptian football has always respected the principles of fair play, sporting integrity, and respect for the game. These same principles demand that all teams compete on equal terms and receive fair treatment. What happened during the match rightly caused widespread frustration among our players, staff, and supporters, who expected refereeing to meet the highest standards on football’s biggest stage. Defending the rights and interests of the Egyptian national team is not something that can be ignored, minimized, or treated as secondary. It is a responsibility we undertake with unwavering conviction and determination.
