Filip Kendzia quickly found a new club after leaving Odra Opole. The experienced defender signed a one-year contract with Pogoń Siedlce, and the contract includes the possibility of extending the cooperation for another season. The 29-year-old is expected to strengthen the defense of the team that remained at the back of the Ekstraklasa in the previous competition.

Kendzia ended his stay in Opole after the contract was terminated by mutual consent. However, he did not have to wait long for a new employer, because he started working for Pogoń almost immediately.

After signing the contract, he emphasized that his most important goal was to quickly acclimatize and help the team achieve the best results. In Siedlce, they hope that the stopper’s experience will translate into greater stability of the entire defensive formation.

The new player joined the club for one season. The agreement also included an option to extend the contract for another 12 months, which gives Pogoń the opportunity to keep the defender for longer.

Kendzia is to join the team as a player who knows the realities of the first league well. In recent years, he has played regularly at this level and has gained significant experience in fighting for points at the back of the Ekstraklasa.

His presence should increase competition in the center of defense. The 29-year-old can be useful not only in defensive play, but also in set pieces, where he was able to score goals in previous clubs.

A good season in the colors of Odra Opole

In the previous competition, Kendzia represented Odra Opole. In total, he played in 32 games and scored three times.

For a central defender, it was a valuable achievement. Thanks to his physical condition, he was able to pose a threat in the opponent’s penalty area and use crosses after free kicks and corner kicks.

After one season, his adventure with Odra came to an end. The parties decided to terminate the contract, which allowed the player to move to Siedlce without any compensation.

Kendzia has extensive experience in the first league

Before the transfer to Opole, the defender played for Znicz Pruszków. He played for him in 50 matches in the Ekstraklasa.

In total, Kendzia played 78 matches at this level, scored five goals and provided two assists. This balance shows that he is a well-rounded player and ready to compete immediately.

In addition, there are nearly a hundred appearances in the second league and a similar number in the third level. Pogoń is acquiring a player who knows the specifics of several levels of senior football in Poland.

Pogoń strengthens its squad before the new season

The team from Siedlce remained in the first league after taking 15th place. Before the start of the 2026/2027 campaign, the club is actively working on expanding its squad.

Rafał Makowski, Jakub Barczak, Maciej Rosołek, Mateusz Marzec, Mateusz Kizyma and Przemysław Szur have already joined the team. Kendzia is another player who will improve the quality of the team.

The most important task will be to avoid a nervous fight for relegation and improve the results compared to the previous season. Strengthening the defense with an experienced stopper is intended to help achieve this goal.

Will Kendzia replace Marcin Flis?

Siedlce hope that the new defender will partially fill the gap left by Marcin Flis, who moved to Wisła Płock in the summer. He was an important player in the team and was able to score goals regularly.

Kendzia also has the predisposition to play effectively in the opponent’s penalty area. If he maintains his scoring form with Odra, he can become an important element not only of defense, but also of offensive set pieces.

For the player himself, the transfer to Pogoń is a chance to continue playing regularly in the first league. His quick entry into the team may have a big impact on the beginning of the season and the club’s future plans.
